Phase-change-hybrid-energy-storage for self-sustaining homes
- Collaborative project
- Partners: HPS, Rubitherm, TU Berlin Fachgebiet für Energietechnik und Umweltschutz
- Sponsored by ZiMM
- Project duration: 10/2015-09/2018 - complete
This project focuses its research on a combined electrical-thermal energy storage system for self-sustaining homes and apartment buildings. Therefore a phase-change energy storage system based on hydrates was developed. The phase-change energy storage can be charged during the day via solar energy and at the same time is able to cool down the house. In the evening, the stored energy can be used for further cooling of the house, thus saving electric energy and prolonging battery life. During the cause of the project a test stand was build to optimize the system management and system integration.
